Thrift store table befor and after

Hello to all you wonderful bloggers out there. I am showing you a before and after of a Thrift store table I got for $6. It is the first finished piece for my bedroom makeover. I am notorious for procrastinating and I'm trying hard not to put things off or let the business of life take up all of my time. I keep saying to myself no excuses just do it. So here is my little table it was very dirty and the top was not looking to good. It was easy to fix though. I cleaned it up and got out my sander that Santa brought me for Christmas. BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER!!! My idea was just to sand the top because the rest of it was in pretty good condition. A few nicks and scratches but I loved the shabby look of it. I wanted to sand off the paint and just leave the natural wood but it is made out of pressed board. Not pretty! So my next idea was to paint it. I painted it French blue and distressed it with sand paper and stained it. At first I wasn't to sure if I liked it but when I added the blue knob to the drawer I liked the way it turned out. My Bedroom Redo

Now that the Holidays are over and the new year is coming. I have decieded to do something with my bedroom. It has been 12 years and we have been furnishing and decorating every room in the house except our bedroom. I watch the Nate Show, (Not sure if you have heard of it.) and it seems that lots of people tend to do this. I love to watch the befor and after bedroom makeovers and I am amazed at what they do. Sometimes they use Thrift store finds or they repurpose things that they already have. And it's always on a budget. Nate says your bedroom should be a space that is beautiful and relaxing. Not just a place for sleeping. I think it's time. I have a collection of Thrift store finds just wainting to be used. I am going to challenge myself to do the hole room with what I already have. Wish me luck.

Hi everyone, I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. Now we have enough candy to last us until next year. And I am dreading the chore of taking down the decorations but I am looking forward to putting up the Christmas ones. I am in the Christmas spirit. How about you? INSPIRED!!!!!

Hi friends, I was blog hopping the other day and was visiting one of my favorite blogs Funky Junk Interiors. I am sure most of you have heard of it. Donna is the talented woman behind this blog and has a wonderful way of using the unexpected and making it into beautiful Art/Decor for the home. She makes it look so easy. She is doing a 31 days Blog to Biz tutorial. This tutorial has given me alot of inspiration and I have been learning a great deal. She has challenged everyone to be gutsy and to look at things in a different way and to use something in a way you would not usually think of. I love to look at things in different ways but am not always gutsy enough to go for it and create what I have imagined in my mind. I do worry about what people might say. But I am not going to think about that anymore and I am just going to do it. All the projects swimming in my head. I am just going to do them. So here is one that I did for a little Halloween decor. This is a tin wall pocket upside down. I just added a paper mask and some bling. Thanks for the inspiration Donna.

Practical Magic

I have been thinking alot about what I wanted to do for this post. I wanted to make a beautiful vignette inspired by the movie. But I could not wrap my brain around anything. Small ideas would come then nothing. So I watched the movie and was so inspired I had to sit down and write about believing in the power of believing. There is so much power in everything around us. Love, Nature, Friendship, Sisterhood, a word, a smile. I could go on and on. I do believe there is a little witch in every woman and that magic is all around us. So I hope you enjoy this post. I set up a brewing table in my front room. For all the potions I will be conjuring up now that my inner witch is itching to create.

Creative Coverup

Hi everyone, TGIF! This is my attempt at covering up an eye sore in my hallway. I am not sure about it but it works for now. My first idea was to use a shelf under it and put something in front of it or maybe a wood box with a decorative framed print. Of course it would have to open and close. So many ideas, I wish I could just move it. Thanks and have a wonderful weekend.

Here are a few of this weeks Thrift store finds. A chair for the hubby's desk, a couple of clocks and a beautiful mirror that my Mother-in-law brought me when she came to visit over the weekend. She is such a sweet heart.

SNS Mason Jar Vase

Hi friends, I have finally put the mason jar in the empty space of the pot holder I use for my message center. Thanks for the idea ; ) I put it in and it fit good I thought but my husband said I should tie something to it so it wouldn't fall. So I used some beaded rope to secure it and my husband was right when he said that I would be upset if it fell and broke. But don't tell him I said so....... I am using it for a vase so I thought I would share it at Funky Junk Interiors SNS party "things as vases". Stop by her blog and check it out.

Last Day Of Summer Vacation

It's the end of Summer vacation and my boys are going back to school. I don't know what I am going to do with all the free time I will have. Ha ha! After filling out all the paperwork and getting everything ready such as backpacks, paper, pencils ect. They were able to spend the rest of there day having fun in the pool. I love watching them enjoying the pool now that we have one.

Bella's Room

Hello everyone, My little girl is growing up and I have taken some of the baby things out of her room. Like the changing table and other stuff we don't use anymore. I had pocrastinated because I didn't want to take out all her cute baby things but it was time. There is a lot more room now and I have rearranged things. Now it looks like a little girls room. They grow up to fast!!!!!

Glass Etching

Happy SNS everyone. I wanted to show all of you this Paris etching I made from a simple picture frame. I remover the cardboard backing and glass. Than I made stencils with my Cricut a little etching cream and that's it.

It didn't work the first time I tried it on some glass bottles. The directions said leave it on for 5 min. nothing happened. Then I was blog hopping and saw a post about etching and it said to leave it for 10 min and it worked. So wonderful the info you can get form other bloggers. I would have never tried it again if I hadn't read that post.

White Shabby Chic Clock

Hi everyone, I haven't posted sense before Easter. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I just wanted to post about a clock I finished. I took a silver plated tray and painted it white. I love silver trays and this one had a wonderful detailed edge but it was turning green so I decided to paint it white. I wanted it to be soft and romantic so I used a peace of scrapbook paper with a beautiful scenery in grays and white with just a little pink glitter. The detail of the building in the scene reminds me of a castle. Now I am off to catch up on my blog hopping.

Chalk board message center

Hi everyone, this is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I am so glad that I was able to find the things and finish. I painted chalk board paint on a old silver tray I got from a Thrift store I also found this flower pot holder there and it was copper. Of course I painted it white and distressed it. I am loving the fleur-de-lis. I use the two galvanized pots I already had. "wish I had three" for the chalk and eraser. Not sure what I am going to do with the middle one yet. Any ideas? I love getting your creative thoughts.

Happy Friday everyone. My favorite day of the week. The kids are happy no school tomorrow. The hubby is relaxed because the weekend is here. I still work tonight and tomorrow but I love Fridays anyway. I have a little before and after for you today. Some blue baskets I got at Home Goods on clearance. Love those clearance sales. They were a little to light for me so I stained them with antiquing glaze. The glaze gave it an aged look. I painted some metal tags I got from The Graphics Fairy etsy shop. I couldn't deiced if I wanted chalkboard paint or a shabby decorative look. So I did both one side is distressed white with words and the other is chalkboard. I just turn it over when I want to use the other side.

Hi everyone, today I would like to give some blog love to my Mother-in-law. She is a very talented seamstress and makes the cutest slip dresses. They are prefect for Summer especially here in AZ. I would love to have them all for Bella. They are so easy to slip on when your on the go and we know Moms are always on the go. Here are a few of them. Bell's Step Stool

Hi everyone, It's a little late in the day but I wanted to show you Bella's new step stool. It's potty training time and I had to get her one. After not finding anything at my usual shopping places "Thrift stores, flea markets, etc." I went and bought one from Target. It's white but of course I couldn't leave at that. I stenciled it for her highness and now it fits perfect with the downstairs bathroom decor.

Before and After.....

Hello everyone, I don't know why it is that I always have multiple projects going at one time. I start ones set it aside and start another one. I get lots of ideas at one time and think I can do them all at once. Of course it doesn't work out that way. Enough about me. Here is one out of the ten projects I have going on that I finished. A Thrift store basket that I white washed and stamped it. I think it looks good. But it's missing something. Maybe some Flowers?????

Thrift Store Finds Makeover

Hi everyone, these are some Thrift store finds that I have given a makeover to give them a French flair. Originally I cut Fleur-de-lis out of vinyl with my cricut machine to use for etching on the bottles. I bought some etching cream at Hobby Lobby "love that store" to etch the design on the glass. But I failed miserably. I don't know what went wrong. Maybe I will have some success next time. So I just took the cut out design and stuck it to the bottles I also got these cool knobs from Hobby Lobby. They have so many different ones "oh the possibility's".

Ribbon Storage

Hi everyone, I am always searching for ways to store my craft supplies. I found a white shelf and a plain wooden tool box with dowels. I thought these would be perfect for ribbon. I drilled some holes in the shelf and added a dowel for my scrapbooking ribbon. Then I painted the wooden tool box white, painted on some letters and distressed it. I like the way it turned out and the best part is the ribbon is out for me to see. I always forget what I have when it is put away in boxes. I hope you like my storage solutions.

Hi everyone. I have been away for awhile, had some computer problems. It's so darn expensive to fix computers. But now I am so happy to have it fixed. I have missed blogging and visiting all of you. I've been wondering what you have been up to. Of course as soon as I could I was out blog hopping and I see lots of amazing and beautiful creations. I am also seeing lots of you featured in magazines. Congratulations and deservedly so. I was looking through an old Somerset mag. and got some ideas using old hangers. Here are a couple I tried. Hi everyone, welcome to White Wednesday. I have taken some pics of things around the house. A white Christmas dome display. I live in Arizona and would love to have a white Christmas but I don't think that it's not going to happen. Two pieces that I bought at a Thrift store that I thought looked interesting together. The glass dome is long and narrow and I have no ides what to put in it. Maybe a small pincushion with some vintage hat pins. And a tin heart pocket assemblage that I have been working on. But today I was able to grab a few minutes to join a blog party which is one of my favorite thing to do. These are some of my latest Thrift store finds. I just love the vintage baby pics. A silver tray I will use for a Holiday centerpiece. A white frame can never have enough of those and a bi-fold screen that has fabric inserts. Oh the ideas of different fabric I could use with this! Hi everyone, I love the holidays. I didn't get to do much for Halloween we were in the middle of moving but we are all moved in now. All we have to do is unpack all the boxes. Persistence Pays Off

Hi everyone, I am so excited to tell you that escrow closed on our house and we are moving in this weekend!!! If you remember me telling you here how we were so heart broken about what happened with the last house. We were so ready to give up especially my husband. But I talked him into trying again. I wasn't sure it was a good idea at the time but I am so glad we did. We are so lucky and blessed. This house was meant for us and I am going to enjoy making it into our home. Key Box Makeover

Hi Everyone, This is a clock I made from a vintage silver tray and some decorative paper. I stenciled on the numbers and used a silver piece for the middle decoration. I used hands form an old clock and the patina goes great with the tray.

I bought this key holder at my favorite place "GW". I liked the design and the hardware but it had a painted flower on it I didn't particularly like. So I got out my paper stash and went looking for something to give a more shabby French look. I love to decoupage with beautiful paper and this one was perfect for what I was going for. I think it turned out great. What do you think?

Nifty Thrifty and White

Hello everyone. These are just a few goodies I found at my local Thrift store. I love tart tins when I see some I just can't pass them up. I now have enough to use for a string of white lights or use them as ornaments to fill a Christmas tree and the little pastry stamps are so cute one has pears and the other has a four leaf clover. They were made in Germany. The relish tray was only $6 and the spoons have beautiful flowers on them and they go great with the relish tray. Have a wonderful day.

I was pulling out my stash of Holiday stuff so I can start some projects. I promised myself that I wouldn't procrastinate till the last minute this year. And I came across a few things I had forgotten about. A little witches cauldron. I am thinking of making a paper collage inside of it with an image of a witch. Hi everyone, I love collecting "stuff" here are some of the things I have found at Flea Markets, Garage Sales, and Thrift stores since I have been away. An architectural piece I got for $3.99. Not sure where I am going to put it though. Some pretty flowered dishes, a monogrammed vase "at least I think it is a vase." a 10" cake dome and a berry bowl. I am so inspired every day by all of your beautiful blogs and creativity. Thank you!

I got this tray at one of my favorite thrift stores. I love the shabby look of it but I think I am going to use some of this European inspired paper and this image from The Graphics Fairy to give it a shabby French look.

Keep Trying

Hello again everyone. I finally have a working computer now and I wanted to share my not so happy story with you. My husband and I are in our early 40s and have never had the chance to own a home. Fortunately all the places we have lived have felt like home to us and our children. We have recently endeavored to buy a home. We started looking in August of last year. We put in a offer on a house that was a short sale. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. This being our first time and all. We were at the mercy of the bank. We were continually told by our Realtor there was nothing we could do we just had to wait. This went on for 10 months. Lots of ups and downs. Being told it would be soon then a problem would occur and we would be waiting again. Our Realtor should have been working hard to find us another home but she didn't seem to have the time. We really believed her when she said that it would happen soon. The bank accepted our offer and we finally went into escrow we got our loan everything was approved and signed. We were so happy and excited. The emotional roller coaster was over. There were just a few papers for the seller to sign. He refused to sign them. That was it! It was over. We could not believe that this whole time he agreed to sell to us and then after everything was done he didn't sign. Our hearts were broken! Now we are having second thoughts about looking again. I am guessing life may have a different adventure in store for us. I hope no one else out there has to go through this. I am thankful for the love and support of my family. I should count my blessings and try again. Nothing worth having comes easy.

Hello everyone. I would like to apologize for not posting pics of my studio for the Where Bloggers Create party. My computer crashed and I am not sure when I will be able to get it fixed. I was hopping to be able to make this post sooner but as we all know when one thing goes wrong everything else that can go wrong seems to follow. Nifty Thrifty Vintage Finds

I adore anything vintage and I have found some great vintage goodies at GW. These are two vintage jewelry boxes. One has a ballerina on it. So cute! Inside is a ballerina that spins to music. I was amazed that it still worked. My daughter just loves to watch her dance. The other one is pink on the inside. The ballerina photo holders were also a GW purchase. They are not vintage but still very cute. I got the beautiful ballerina images from The Graphics Fairy. I so love The Graphics Fairy don't you?

These are some vintage fashion plate print adds that have been hand painted with watercolors. They have been taped to photo mats. I don't want to remove them for fear of ripping them. I can see that they have been ripped out of a magazine. I love the words at the bottom "Les Modes Parisiennes" and the label Mman & Sons. They have some yellowing but I still love the way they look. I think they would look good in some big chunky frames with chippy white paint.

Hi everyone, I made some cards for my Moms for Mothers Day. This year I thought it would be cute to make a card with a gift all in one. I took vintage jewelry pins and put them on some ribbon and lace I used to embellish the cards with. They can be taken off and worn. It's kinda hard to know what to get them. I know they like vintage but I am still not sure what to get. I know they like getting cards I have made for them. So I combined the two and I think they will like it.

Thrifty Whites

Hi everyone, This is my thrifty whites for this week. Here is a shelf and a milk bucket I purchased at GW. I have embellished the shelf with Fleur-de-lis rub-ons. I have decided to use it for my craft room and the milk bucket will be used for storing rolls of paper.

This cute cherub door knocker was also a GW find for just a few dollars. I can't put it on my front door but I am sure I can think of something to do with it. Maybe a towel holder??

I found this beautiful winter scene plate at GW. I can't wait to use it at Christmas time. WOW! I got all these things at GW even the little bottles on the shelves. I guess that shows how much I shop there. Have a wonderful day and thank you for stopping by.

A Birthday Gift

Hi everyone, I wanted to show you something I made for my sister-in-law for her birthday. I took some scrabble tiles and one of the tile holders. I spelled her name with the letters added some lace, flowers and some vintage sewing pretties. She has a shop on ETSY called Beccas Pretty Things where she sells handmade aprons and other pretty tings. April Silver Sunday

Hi everyone happy Silver Sunday. These are some of my silver finds. A footed silver award tray and a silver Rogers Bros server. I am not sure if it is a cake server or a pie server. I love the patina on it. I am always debating whether or not to polish a piece because I really like the look of a tarnished piece but I also like a shinny polished piece of silver. Still undecided about this one.

Hi, I have been looking through all the posts at the Spring Cloche Party and decided to post my sad lonely little cloche/cheese dome anyway. It's not to impressive compared to all the wonderful ones I have been looking at. It's the only one I have and I kept it simple with some shredded sheet music and a little brown nest. I tried turning some of my vases upside down but it didn't work out to well. I guess I could post about that on Failed Friday. I am so impressed with all the beautiful cloche displays I will definitely be getting my self out to find some this weekend.

Vintage Easter

I have been having so much fun blog hopping today and I have seen so many beautiful vintage Easter things. I thought I would show you one of my favorite vintage pieces. This is a round vintage silver tray that has two glass pieces that are removable. I have put some Easter bunny paper, a vintage doily, and a vintage Easter image between the round pieces of glass. I am always decorating and redecorating. To have a something that can change so easily with my decorating mood of the month is wonderful. It also works great for Holidays. Frugalicious Thrift Store Finds

Hello everyone. These are my frugalicious Thrift Store finds for this Friday. I thought that this little red tea tin would be great for holding some spices and I just had to have this rose stick pin. It will go great with my others. I got all this for under $15.

This popcorn bucket has a removable plastic bowl for easy cleaning.

I love his egg shaped muffin pan. So many ways I can use it for Easter and this pewter tray to add to my collection. It has some scratches but I like the tattered look.

Ren Fest

We went to the Renaissance Festival yesterday. It was so much fun.

Such wonderful colors and beautiful hand crafted items by artisans with amazing talent.

These are a few things I got while I was there. A Victorian style perfume bottle necklace to add to my collection of perfume bottles. A blue metal rose that is scented and a vintage book.

Frugaliciously Free

This changing table was given to me just after I had my baby girl by a family friend. It was used and in need of a little TLC and some paint "white of course". I wanted to give it a shabby chic look so I painted and distressed the sliding doors and added some shabby chic paper ovals. I also wallpapered the shelves with some vintage cream colored wallpaper. Put a pink and white polka dot cover on the changing pad. I love the polka dots on the cover if only I could find a polka dot crib sheet. I do like the way it turned out and it goes great in her shabby room. And I got the diaper holder that is hanging on the side for $.25 at a yard sale.

Spring is for the birds

I transformed my empty kitchen counter top into a Spring/Easter vignette. Birds, butterflies and eggs were my inspiration. Robin's egg blue is one of my favorite colors and also one of my favorite blogs. Enjoy!

WW Easter Creations

Hi everyone, I have added a little Easter creation for this White Wednesday. I found this beautiful egg image from The Graphics Fairy. I was just waiting for the right inspiration. When I painted this paper mache box antique white I knew it would look wonderful with this image. I added some other decorative egg paper to the top and some ribbon, lace and a little vintage bling. Hooray!! It's Silver Sunday

I am so glad it's Silver Sunday. I get to see all of your wonderful silver treasures and I get to show off some of mine. So much fun! I hope you enjoy.

These are some silver spoons I got from my Mother in law's ETSY shop Memere's Attic. She always has such wonderful vintage and antique things in her shop.

This spoon is very ornate with Belgium and their crown and coat of arms on it.

This is an interesting piece I got at GW. I'm not sure what it is for but I thought it could hold a postcard or a place card or maybe a photo.

These silver napkin holders were handed down to me from my Grandmother in law. I have had them for a long time and now they have some what of a patina but I still think they are beautiful. I look forward to handing them down to my daughter one day. The hand mirror is something I found at a Thrift Store and it is wonderfully tarnished.

I had purchased this fabric samples book from GW for $6 a while ago. I have been waiting to use them.

I picked one of the fabric samples and cut it to fit.

I thought I would post about my ever growing collection of white lace, crouched doilies, eyelet trim, and seam binding. Bella's Birthday

We just celebrated my daughters first birthday and I had so much fun making some of the decorations and her banner. She had fun especially when everyone "even the adults" did the hokey pokey with her. She loves the hokey pokey.

I am definitely going to hang this up in her room.

Painted White

Happy Wednesday everyone. This my painted white Wednesday. Some times I just go crazy with white paint. It is usually around spring time and I think it is because I want to brighten things up. Here are some of my painted projects. Be sure to visit Faded Charm to see all the other white treasures.

This candy tin is one of my favorite tins. I painted it and decoupaged some paper to the inside. I love the way it turned out. I think it has a more feminine romantic look. Don't you?

Here is the before pic.

These earns were a dark gray color. I wanted to lighten them up. So I got out the white spray paint. Of course I distressed them with sand paper and antiquing polish. I think a nest with some little eggs or a bird would be perfect for spring.

I took out the insides of this pocket watch and painted it antique white. Now it's a memory locket.

Nifty Thrifty Tuesday

Hi, This is my nifty thrifty Tuesday finds. My family was in town this weekend for Isabella's 1st birthday party. My Mother in law, Sister in law and I made our rounds to our favorite thrifty places. We go when ever she is in town. We started this game "Find of the day". My Sister in law definitely won this time. She got a desk for $.99. I could not believe it less than a $1 for a whole desk not part of a desk, not a broken desk, but a whole desk! I will have to show you a pic next time. But we had lots of fun and the day seem to go by to fast. Thank you for stopping by.
